I've reinstated the 'mysql' to STORE_SESSIONS and the error re-appears. However, this is in IE. I tried opening the system on Chrome and the error isn't there.
Sorry for the lack of information about this. I'm quickly out of my depth when it comes to php admin and its configuration. Would it be worthwhile resetting the php.config to the NAS default?

Hard to say. If it works ok on Chrome then use it without change configuration.Would it be worthwhile resetting the php.config to the NAS default?

Re: Error updating several entities
All very strange. There's been no update to the server, but for some reason the system has stopped behaving as it should. I've temporarily disabled updating of records from the menu as this caused the error. A user can still edit the individual record which will have to be the fix until I can look into it a bit more.
Thanks for the quick responses, especially to clear out the stored sessions - that was a great help to get things up and running again
